From my email inbox: Hello, I just recently joined the group and I have been reading everyones stories and felt encouraged to share my own. I found out I was pregnant at about 6 weeks and was over the moon with excitement. Having had a miscarriage before my boyfriend and I decided we would wait to announce it until we were out of our first trimester. At our 13 week appointment we had our first ultrasound done and were told that the sono tech had noticed some cysts on my uterus and placenta but not to be too alarmed that it could turn out to be nothing. That afternoon we posted to Facebook announcing our pregnancy thinking everything was going to be okay. Four weeks later at my next appointment the doctor had me do another sono and noticed that the cysts were not going away and found that my baby was measuring 2 weeks behind. She referred me to a specialist and two days later I had an appointment to see him. My boyfriend and I went to the appointment and had another sonogram done and the specialist found that our sweet baby wasnt growing the way it should. He told us that the brain wasnt the right shape, the kidneys werent working and their was a whole in the heart and also one in the stomach where the intestines were coming out of. I immediately broke down and asked the dr what we could do from there. He wanted to do a Amniocentesis (amniotic fluid test) and to wait for the results and go from there. We went ahead and had the test done right then and made our appointment to return in two weeks. The following week I went to my appointment with my OBGYN and the nurse had a hard time finding the heartbeat, my only thoughts were oh my this is it and I just started crying. They finally found the heartbeat but it was only at 101. I got a call a couple days later from the specialist saying the test was inconclusive and he needed to do another at our next appointment. The next week I went in to the specialist and explained how I didnt know if I could handle doing the test again. He then did a sono and looked for the heartbeat and told me my baby had past. This was one of the hardest days of my life. A week later on September 11, 2013 I delivered my baby girl but was not able to see her. They sent her straight to the lab for testing and told me she had a rare disorder called Triploidy and that only 1 in every 400 women experience this and I was the unlucky one. Triploidy is a chromosome disorder in which the baby had a full extra set of chromosomes and wouldnt have lived a long life. I hope to one day be able to have a healthy baby and will never forget my angel baby! -Megan If you would like for me to post a question, share your story, or post a prayer request for you, just email me at iamamothertoanangel@yahoo
