From our Friends at CJCEMA: The Central Jackson County Emergency - TopicsExpress

From our Friends at CJCEMA: The Central Jackson County Emergency Management Agency (CJCEMA) conducts monthly tests of its outdoor warning system on the first Wednesday of every month, weather permitting. Technical problems were diagnosed during today’s test of the outdoor warning sirens and resulted in sirens not responding as expected. Representatives from Commenco, CJCEMA and Motorola conducted repairs on the outdoor warning system. As a result, CJCEMA conducted a ‘bump’ test of the system at 6 p.m. to make sure that the system was properly dispatching. The ‘bump’ test was originally intended to last 15 seconds, but ran the full cycle. A ‘bump’ test is a short test, then canceled immediately after the sirens sound. The second ‘bump’ test sounded correctly, but the cancel action failed and we were forced to go to a backup action to deactivate the siren system. We apologize for any concern this test caused, but it was imperative to test our dispatch system to ensure that the system was properly repaired in advance of a real event.
