From our church bulletin this morning.... As He approached and saw the city, He wept over it. Luke 19:41 The beauty of Easter is the heart of our God. In a human framework, if we are rejected, we might lash out, or become resentful and turn away. Not God. He turns toward us and weeps for our loss. Loss of fellowship. Loss of comfort. Loss of hope. So here He come to His people, riding on a donkey, knowing full well what is in store for Him. Knowing that the very same people coming out to meet Him and calling, Hosanna in the Highest, will, before the week is over, be calling out, Crucify Him!. Yet still He comes... and He weeps. But why does he weep? Not for the trials He will face, or the pain He will endure, or for the humiliation and rejection. No, He weeps for His people because He loves them. He is coming for their sakes. For our sakes. What kind of God is this who becomes one of us, walks among us, suffers and dies for us? What hope do we have of understanding His heart? Only this: that we surrender to Him, accept His sacrifice, and believe. Then and only then will we see firsthand what those in that time were witness to, the ressurection to Life Everlasting. As we approach the celebration of the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, may we be ever grateful that we serve such a God, who loves us so much, that He weeps for us. May we give Him no further cause to weep, and join Him in celebrating Life. God Bless, Pastor Steve Wishek
