From our country commissioner: A water company has set up across from our bone-dry, well-dependent neighborhood to SELL OUR DWINDLING WATER! Heres what Commissioner Will Conley has to say about it (for non-readers, its a LOOPHOLE): I am sorry to report the following information. There is a company called Electro Purification that has found a loop hole in our ground water management jurisdictions in Hays County. They are now out in other parts of Hays County trying to find customers for water. Western Hays County isn’t a water rich area. What they are claiming to distribute is a very large amount of water. Officials in our County have worked hard trying to work with others to facilitate alternative water resources for all of Hays County and especially Western Hays County. Now we have this happening. Which is the exact opposite strategy that we are trying to accomplish. Everyone in this area is on residential wells. This company has setup shop on a ranch off fm3237 right across from Rolling Oaks area. Here is a list of other nearby subdivisions. Bluffside, Comanche Waters, Constellation, Deerlake, Diamond Ranch, Fox Hole, Hays City Estates, Hermosa Paloma Overlook, J.F, Las Lomas, Legend Oaks, Little Star Ranches, Los Ranchos, Old Oaks Estates, Price Addition, Rainbow Ranch, Rancho Grande Estates, Red Hawk Ranch, River Mountain Ranch, Rolling Oaks, Running Rope Estates, Sierra West, Skyline Reserve to name a few close to this source. I would hope potential water customers in Hays County would consider the sensitivity of this issue and ask this Electro Purification Company some really tough questions about how this may impact their fellow Hays County citizens. Our office in precinct 3 will be aggressively following up on this issue. As we learn more we will share with our community. On a positive note we are about to go into a Legislative session where these issues can be addressed in many different ways. It seems we have work to do.
