(From page admin. Bryan) - New York City-based singer/songwriter/musician Garland Jeffreys played a great show at an intimate venue called Dakota Jazz in Minneapolis last night. We had a chance to talk to him for just a few minutes post-show as he met fans, took pictures and signed autographs for everyone. I asked him if he remembered playing the Mercer Arts Center in NYC with The Magic Tramps back in the early 70s. He looked a bit shocked for just a second that someone in Minneapolis would ask about this and then he smiled a big smile and said sure I do! The Mercer Arts Center - so long ago now. New York Dolls, Magic Tramps, Lou Reed, Maxs Kansas City - great times. He said that entire scene in NYC in the early 70s was an amazing time to be alive and young and surrounded by all that creativity and music. Garland plays a show on 12/31/14 at a place called Joes Pub in NYC - if you can make it out to the show we guarantee youll have a great time.
