From the 21 Lessons of Merlyn Chapter 7: Upon This Hallowed Ground Merlyn halted our horse (Passion) at the base of a hill (Bottom of a place of thought), or plateau (Level place of thought), for it had steep (Hard to obtain Understanding) terraced flat headland (Place of high Safety, Where there is a Steep (Hard to Obtain Understanding) drop toward the Water (Knowledge). Looking up (Turning thoughts heavenward) and across, I could make out the ruins of many large buildings (Places of Worship destroyed in thought) against the skyline as we began our climb (Ascent in understanding) to the top (Place of Understanding), via a wide footpath (Way of Destruction) carved directly to the summit (Place of Understanding). Nearing our goal, I noted that the plateau (Level place of Understanding) was enclosed by a continuous stone (Disciple) Wall , a little taller (Higher in Stature) than I stood, broken and crumbling in places. There was one main entrance or rampart (Defensive Wall), which must have provided entrance into the city long ago. It was here that we were met by a solemn (Mournful) delegation of white robed Druids, who greeted us with mysterious words and gestures. After a while we were led through a narrow (Way of Life) tunnel, lined all in smooth gray stone (Disciples) and dug directly into the uppermost one of the three terraces (Flat level place of thought). After following this a distance of ten paces (Ten Commandments) or so, we emerged into a spacious underground chamber, brightly lit by dozens of torches.
