From the AKC June 24, 2014 Dear COLLEEN BROWN, Listening to the concerns of our constituency and based on feedback and requests from clubs, the AKC Board recently approved the following changes that will streamline the application process for clubs: •AKC will now accept the signature of the event chairperson in lieu of an officer signature on event applications (including matches). •This recognizes that clubs have delegated authority to this individual to apply for their event and judges panel. •The AKC will continue to send pending/approval notices to the club secretary when applications are processed. •The AKC has extended the Common Site Application & Host Club Permission letters to be effective for one, multiple or indefinite year(s). Look for the new forms to support this change in a few weeks. The Board made changes to the Match Regulations Chapter 2, Section 1: •Made FSS breeds eligible for breed and group competition. •Removed the requirement that the FSS breeds be listed on the Match Application and in the advertising for the Match. •Allows the breed standards to be available at the Match in either digital or paper format. The Board modified the Clusters & Back-to-Back policy: •The limit on the number of days of consecutive competition now excludes National Specialties and associated events. •Clarified that this policy only applies to conformation shows. Effective January 1, 2015 English Springer Spaniels may be judged on the ramp, at the discretion of the judge. In regards to the National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS), the following are not considered special attractions and do not require a club to hold NOHS: •4-6 Month Beginner Puppy •Sweepstakes •Demonstrations, parades, tests, clinics, and seminars In addition, Specialty clubs are not required to hold NOHS even if they have other special attractions. Group and All-Breed clubs are required to offer the NOHS if they offer other special attractions that have group competition. For further details please consult the June Board Meeting Minutes.
