From the Book of 2nd Chronicles...The Covenant Provided God had long before instructed the Israelites to build a reminder of his treaty,or covenant, with them- the ark of the covenant (Exodus 25:10-22). The ark was the most sacred piece of furniture in all Israel,and it resided in the inner sanctuary of the tabernacle and later the temple (2nd Chronicles 5:7). The ark was eventually lost or hidden,however,and has not been recovered to this day.Gods presence and power,his glory, departed with the ark on account of Israels sin (1st Samuel 4:21-22 and Ezekiel 8-10). Without Gods presence the Most Holy Place was for all intents and purposes empty,and the ark had become nothing nothing more than a piece of furniture. The New Testament teaches that Jesus is the embodiment of Gods glory (John 1;14 and Philippians 2:5-11). When we know Jesus as our Savior and Lord,taking him at his word and learning to live life the way he wants us to,his Spirit- the very presence of God- lives within us. Our bodies become a temple of the Holy Spirit (1st Corinthians 6:19), and we have become a place where God chooses to be! Because of this great mystery,we become a reflection for the world of who God is (2nd Corinthians 3:18). God Bless You Next Sunday we will study further in the Book of 2nd Chronicles...
