From the Chaplain: This Sunday twenty people from Giggleswick School and village will confirm their faith in God at our joint Confirmation service. The service will be held at St Alkelda’s Church at 11 a.m. When each candidate stands before the Bishop he will say “Confirm, O Lord, your servant with your Holy Spirit.” This prayer reminds us of the account in the book of Acts of the Day of Pentecost when the Disciples “saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:3-4). Pentecost is seen as the birthday of the Church. As our candidates receive this blessing from the Bishop we are reminded that as each generation of Christians comes to faith our Church is continually reborn and our Church continues to grow. Please pray for all the Giggleswick confirmation candidates and for all who have been recently confirmed, that their faith may continue to grow and that their lives may be a light to the world.
