From the Desk of Dr. Mossige: Dear Parents, Guardians and Students, Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the winter break and treasured the opportunity to count blessings and recharge their spirits. Rejuvenation is extremely important, especially as we prepare for the challenges and opportunities that await us during the second semester. On Tuesday, January 6, 2015 students will receive copies of their second semester schedules. Schedule change requests will be available through the assistant principal suite (office space) and must be submitted by Monday, January 12, 2015. Our goal is to process any requests by the beginning of the second semester, Tuesday, January 20, 2015. We highly encourage all students to take a picture of their new schedule just in case they lose it. The copy provided on Tuesday will be the only one Paschal will provide to all students with the exception of warranted changes by the Paschal counselors. As a reminder, Paschal builds a master schedule and employs teachers and staff according to student requests the previous school year. Therefore, every schedule change will be reviewed thoroughly before processing the potential change. Every school day matters and the traditional “fruit basket turnover” that has historically occurred with schedule changes has a negative impact to the Paschal academic environment. Each instructional day is sacred and must be used to provide our students necessary information required by the state of Texas, especially as the instructional days of the 2014 – 2015 wind down. Summer will be here before we know it! In an effort to better support our students in the scheduling process, we are offering the first ever, Paschal Scheduling Expo. It will be occurring on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm throughout the main halls of Paschal High School for current 9th, 10th and 11th graders. Each department at Paschal will have information available regarding offered classes and many of the current syllabus’s will be on hand. Moreover, class meetings with all counselors will be occurring the week of the expo to provide all students with important class selection and scheduling information for the 2015-2016 school year. As I said earlier, student schedule requests build our master schedule and influence our allotment of teachers and staff for the following school year. Consequently, it is extremely important that students choose their schedules carefully since limited schedule changes will be approved for the 2015 – 2016 school year. Our goal is to provide quality information to our parents and students regarding class choices and limited changes will result. We are sensitive to the fact that some changes will be necessary due to extenuating circumstances. It is imperative that necessary changes be the exception and not the rule. 2015 presents numerous academic and extra-curricular opportunities for our students and community. The glory of education is the opportunity it provides to work with and help other people. I am blessed to work and serve such a wonderful community and grateful for your help and patience throughout the years. Happy New Year! Let’s make 2015 the best year yet! Sincerely, Terri Mossige, Ed.D., Principal
