From the General Conference archives: The Liquor Traffic has laid a perpetual siege to our cities and towns, and is bombarding them with Bottle-guns, which inflict more death and general destruction than the large siege guns of a modern army. The ammunition used in the Bottle-guns is DEVASTATION, fired without detonation, at an annual national cost of $2,700,000,000, and produces crime, outrage, arson, poverty, pauperism, vice, murder, waste, widows, orphans, broken hearts, riots, divorces, insanity, ruined homes, want, theft, misery, cruelty, hard times, and suicide. For the raising of this Liquor Traffic siege is mobilizing an army of millions, and equipping it with effective, rapid-firing ballotguns. Every loyal man and woman who votes may enlist. Suffering humanity demands your services. Peace and prosperity depend upon your vote. -Review and Herald April 15, 1915 docs.adventistarchives.org/doc_info.asp?DocID=91555
