Dear God, You are the Alpha and Omega – in you we have our beginning and our ending. We thank you for this day’s opportunities for expressing gratitude and soliciting mercy. As we are in a season of anticipation, convict our hearts by the revelation of our true reflections. While we are waiting… give us the strength to ponder our complicity in all enduring injustices. While we are waiting… help us to honestly answer unspoken questions about the legacy of reducing your image to fractionalized personhood. While we are waiting… give those who feel they have the most to lose the courage to err on the side of righteousness anyway.
