On 4-29-2014 around 3:41 pm Detective Chad Hammond noticed a truck and trailer pulled into the Sto and Loc store sheds on N. McKinley. He pulled into the area and spoke with a male who identified himself as Cecil Sizemore age 46 of Medaryville. Mr. Sizemore told Detective Hammond he was there helping someone move into a Sto and Loc. Sizemore was allowed to leave. Detective Hammond went to the storage shed that he found open and noticed several items scattered around. He contacted the renter of that shed who came to the scene. According to probable cause affidavits, the victims identified several items missing, a TV, a lawn mower, a chain saw, and a tent. Detective Hammond and Sgt. Anderson went to Sizemores residence in Pulaski county to speak with him on 4-30-2014. While speaking with Sizemore, they located Anthony Carty age 48 of Wheatfield who advised police, he was with Sizemore yesterday at the Sto & Loc. Reports indicate that both Sizemore and Carty told police they did take items from the Sto & Loc that were not theirs. Items that were either found or admitted stolen were chain saws, a dryer, hand tools and a tent. Most items were brought back to Rensselaer Police Department. Several items were not found. Cecil Sizemore and Anthony Carty were arrested for possession of stolen property/theft, a class D felony. They were taken to Jasper County Detention Center and booked. Anyone with information about where stolen property may have been taken are encouraged to contact Rensselaer Police Department at 219-866-7602 or Detective Hammond at chammond@cityofrensselaerin.
