From the Stories that make you go hmmmm.... file On September 17th while patrolling in the area of NE 272 Avenue and Highway 349, a Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. At that point a traffic stop was initiated and during the course of the stop, both the male driver and female passenger, Kaylie Lancaster, 28 years of age from Chiefland, appeared to be nervous to the point that the deputy became suspicious of their activity. During the stop and subsequent search of the vehicle, drug paraphernalia was found that tested positive for Methadone and Ocycodone. As a result of the search, Kaylie Lancaster was arrested for Possession of less than 20 grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Equipment. Lancaster was then taken to the patrol car and prior to being handcuffed asked that she be handcuffed in front of her person. The deputy refused and followed departmental policy by handcuffing her behind her back prior to placing her in the patrol car. While still on scene, Lancaster began yelling from the car for the deputy to come back to the car because she had something else on her. The deputy returned to the car where he asked her what it was and she told him that she had two Dilaudid pills and a needle hidden in her vagina. Lancaster was then transported to the Dixie County Jail and turned over to a female correctional officer where she then removed the needle and pills in the presence of the female officer. In addition to the two previous charges, Lancaster was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
