From the article: In other words, the great transfer of wealth is about more than wishful thinking. Its about an ongoing effort, by leaders and institutions of the evangelical right, to gradually gobble up the secular sphere of government. Correction: The leaders and institutions of the evangelical right are only one subset of those (corporations and wealthy individuals) who see themselves as righteous and who have found creative ways to paint the average taxpayer as wicked, while they USE the leaders and institutions of the evangelical right as one of several TOOLS, to wage a war on the social services that our tax dollars were supposed to fund. So, if they are delusional enough to convince themselves that our tax dollars are the deserved spoils of their righteous war against social services (of which the highly-selective, faux shutdown was an integral part), then they are also delusional enough to believe that they are somehow immune to the consequences of these and their other actions to rape and pillage the planet and all of its peoples. The end result: Their belief that these are the end times has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. (Their actions are ENSURING that the extinction of the human species is imminent.) Their delusions (of being something more special than just a member of an intelligent animal species, of being righteous enough to be spared, by God, of any negative consequences of the end times) make it virtually impossible for anyone to convince them of the error of their ways. Conclusions: 1) This Cruz situation serves as an excellent example of why we cannot expect to PRESSURE our government to start serving our needs. Our political system is now completely broken (if it has not ALWAYS been broken). WE MUST EITHER FIGHT BACK, OR ACCEPT OUR FATE (EXTINCTION). 2) This Cruz situation serves as an excellent example of why ignorance, superstition, religion, and supernaturalism should not only NOT be seen as rights, but, should, instead, be viewed as the greatest threats to the future of the human species (and all other species).
