From the article: Involuntary manslaughter carries a stipulation of willful negligence but “the entire trial has been about the carelessness of the defendant based on his skills… Nowhere did I hear anything about a willful negligence, Gray Hathaway said. So riddle me this, Your Honor: how is an officers carelessness (i.e., lack of due or sufficient care) in discharging his firearm not also an act of negligence? Does not a police officer have an obligation at all times to exercise such due care in the discharge of his duties, ESPECIALLY as regard the use of lethal force?
