From the article: Schreiber says he was also there to dispel some myths including the biggest, which came when the program was first launched, I think a lot of people think, or thought originally it (the DRP program) was full replacement value insurance, and its not, it gets you back to a functional level but it doesnt give you back what you had before the flood and I think that thats really bothering people because I think that was really the initial expectations created and when its not fulfilled its confusing, it makes people angry and its frustrating, and I get that. He told council he understands why many people felt the government and the program were the enemy but he urges people not to give up and he says changes are always being made to make the process work better. When asked how long the program will be around, he suggested some of the approximately 1400 files still open could still be going through next summer, Its not necessarily a bad thing to have an open file and its not necessarily a good thing to have a closed file, so we expect that files will remain open through the next construction season as people complete their repairs and need to get their receipts back to us so I think were going to try to have all of our bit done by the first of April but there will still be lots of DRP files open, for good reason, after the first of April and could in some cases be another year before they get of those repairs complete. #abwater #abflood #highriver
