From the chairman of the Sevier County Tennessee Tea Party Members, Our organization is such that we stay acutely aware of the fundamental transformation of America. In other words, were watching this administration destroy our basic American morals, beliefs, constitutional government, and liberties. It can be difficult to justify why we celebrate Thanksgiving while all this is going on. But we do have much to be thankful for. We worship the same God that led the Pilgrims safely across the great Atlantic ocean. (Would you get in such a tiny boat to traverse such a body of water?) While crew members were dieing of scurvy and assorted other diseases, not one Pilgrim perished because of their steadfast faith in the Almighty. When they arrived at the New World, they landed many miles north of their intended destination in a much more hostile environment. Meaning not only was the weather less accommodating, but the known indian tribe would have killed the lot of them if it werent for a single indian who spoke English. These sojourners truly struggled in the first few years, but never lost sight of the importance of worshiping our Heavenly Father. Their reliance on Him was one that many of us should be jealous of. Their God is Our God. Our God is still God, unchanging. He still hears our prayers. He still blesses us with His bounty, although as a nation we no longer deserve it. Our Savior promised eons ago I will never leave you, and I personally believe that as long as His people call on Him, He will stay with us and guide us through our current struggles. Folks, if for no other reason, we can be thankful that we worship the one true living God, the God of Abraham and Issac; the one true God who hears His peoples prayers. Let us remember all He has done for our nation, and how He has caused our nation to spread His Gospel throughout the world. Let us remember that if we stay firm to the end, He will be with us.
