From the inbox: Im an atheist with a Muslim girlfriend, there are certain family issues that i will need to deal with if we were to marry. For instance I would have to convert, in reality though it is just to make life easier for my partner and although i find all organised religion abhorrent this is a relativity small sacrifice. One of the things im struggling with is how an incredibly intelligent person (my girlfriend) has confused beliefs but doesnt see it. Some aspects of her religion she blatantly ignores while other aspects she believes. If i ask her, should a person be killed for apostasy? She obviously replies no but will question topics like evolution based on what has been written in the Quran. Have you had any success showing the absurdity of people picking and choosing their belief structure, it seems that this is just so ingrained into her that when i discuss it with her she gets upset and actually reverts to a more religious stance.
