According to the decision of the prosecutors office of the Sverdlovsk region of the 3rd March 1959 forensic experts of the Regional Bureau of Forensic Medicine of the Sverdlovsk region in the presence of the prosecutor of the Sverdlovsk Region State Counsellor of Justice. The regional prosecutors junior counselor Justice Ivanova LN and witnesses in the morgue of the central hospital management, made a study of the corpse in daylight of citizen Dyatlov age 23 years, to determine the cause of death and the answers to the questions listed in the decree. Circumstances of the case 23rd January 1959 , An amateur group of tourists of 10 people went to hike/ski Ivdel - Mountain Ortorten. Eventually 9 of them made the hike. On February 1, 1959 the group began to climb the mountain and in the evening pitched tents near the summit of the mountain. On the night of February 2, under mysterious circumstances, all 9 persons died.
