From the summer of 1987: MARVEL UKs DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS SPECIAL, based (of course) on the Marvel Productions animated series (which, unbelievably, sparked some controversy in the States because of the perceived links between fantasy Role Playing Games and - err - Satanism and the occult) which aired on CBS in the States and BBC ONE (a lot!) here in the UK. Considering that Marvel themselves produced the animated series, and it ran for several seasons in the US, its surprising that Marvel NY didnt take then plunge and produce some sort of tie-in. It really demonstrates the lack of synergy (and, arguably, commercial savvy) of the time. M-UK belatedly stepped-in to fill the gap with reprints of strips produced in Spain (the oddly-sized text bubbles are a giveaway). Apparently, there were a lot more of these strips and its surprising that M-UK didnt do more with them. I believe there was an annual as well which also utilised some of the material.
