From the vault of my eccentric family stories: Some years ago, my mother had a cousin who was a prominent corporate attorney in Atlanta. He and his wife lived in a stately home in Buckhead. Down next to the road below their expansive front lawn, there was a row of very fine rose bushes. Although they employed a gardener, the gentleman was extremely picky about how his rose bushes were pruned, so one morning, he decided to stay home from his office and do some gardening himself. He put on a pair of overalls and a baseball cap and took some pruning shears and walked down by the road and proceeded to commence trimming the rose bushes. Things were going well until an expensive car drove by, slowed down, came to a full stop and then backed up. The car window came down and a well dressed woman looked at the attorney and said, I have some rose bushes that need pruning and you seem to know what you are doing. What would you charge to come prune my roses? Without a moments thought, my mothers cousin said, Well Mam, the lady who lives in this house lets me sleep with her. What will you offer? The car sped away.
