From today, for the next few days, I will write about the experiences behind making of karma and the great awesome people I worked with. I will choose few set of people each day... Today its all about the women involved in the shoot. 1. Anusha Kuchibhotla - the actress who played the female lead in the couple scene. She has been one of the most talented, focused, easy-to-work and bubbly female actors I met so far. Her shoot went for 8 hours while I promised only 5 hours. She was kind enough to stay longer and complete her portion of the shoot without questioning keeping up the same energy levels all the time. 2. Vaishnavi Aare - the producer, the executive producer, the production manager and above all my wife. She gave me the initial seed for the story during our script discussions. She set a high bar for me on the script front and the shooting execution. She believed in me and behind every man, there is a woman, she is the one for me. She did the biggest sacrifice among all in allowing me to resign my lucrative job and focus only on films often staying far away from her: 3000 miles away.(india-usa distance) 3. Lakshmi Iyer - Our assistant director as well as art director. She did 90% of the pre-production work single handedly. All the colors in every frame of the film - are her credits. The first day of the shoot - we only shot 20% of the film though we planned for 50%. I was upset and almost gave up on shooting the remaining 80% in one day. I though I should stop the project. She was the one who motivated me to go forward saying we can do this. you can do this. Stop feeling and start doing. Cant forget those lines. 4. Puja Patel - an actor at heart, but on karma, she was our bubbly assistant director, our makeup artist and being there on the set making everyone rejoice with her smiles and jokes. I havent seen a female actor/crew member as energized as her all the time. Wonder where all that energy comes from? 4. Shannon Webster - the only non-indian girl - our sound recorder on the set and also the same girl who shows up in the first 1 minute of the film taking prasadam from the priest. The quality of dialogue for the film can be totally attributed to her. A stick in hand and always headphones on and moving like a soldier standing, sitting, lying down in various awkward positions to get the best quality sound possible. Camera man and I can relax sometimes, but she cant and its a constant struggle for her to hold the long pole as heavy as her weight closer to the actors mouth but out of the frame all the time. 5. Mona Soni - All the title design credit goes to her. Karma title and poster. The actor names that come in the beginning. The crew names that come in the end. All she managed single handedly. Very focused, dedicated and talented lady. Hope I didnt forget anyone. :) #KarmaShortFilm https://youtube/watch?v=v9Rx3Vhs60k
