From webpage: Any way we define liberty, it is around us to some extent. In Western countries we still enjoy large parts of liberty, although we fight for more. Even in the most totalitarian regimes, liberty can survive. Thoughts are free — nobody can control them. However, liberty is not a starting condition of our world. It has to be defended and it has to be produced. Unfortunately, in our days liberty is mainly consumed. Most politicians redistribute liberty. In some cases they take away liberty, such as people who want to smoke, to protect and spread liberty for other persons, such as those who don’t smoke. In other cases they just take it away for ideological reasons or self-interest. Most journalists distort liberty. If they write about it, they mean something completely different, if they even write about it. In most cases it seems like journalists consider it as something given, not necessary to be produced and protected. Most companies misuse liberty. They profit from it, but they try to limit it to raise their rivals’ costs. They speak of economic freedom, but rather they often mean corporatism. What all of them have in common? They consume liberty. Who, then, produces liberty? Students for Liberty among others have taken up this task. How do we achieve this? For one thing, Students for Liberty are creative destroyers. They develop new ideas and replace older ones. Students for Liberty, all over the world, are showing this impressively, fighting even in oppressive regimes like Venezuela. To achieve a better world, hard work is necessary. Our entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and human action will allow us this. Students for Liberty are unique. We produce liberty rather than consuming it. Former student generations have set the ground for us by consuming ideas over books and events. Now we want to give something back to the movement for liberty. Consuming liberty is fun, but producing it is even more! … studentsforliberty.org/europe/2013/09/12/how-do-we-produce-liberty/
