Frontal Lobe -Emotional Control-Our loved ones appear apathetic at times, dont they? That is because the frontal lobe of the brain is badly damaged due to lack of oxygen. Their emotional responses are off. They can swing from- to quick- to very slow- and to not at all. They will say, I love you but lack the emotion that should go into that statement. It falls flat, and rings hollow. Spouses and children will recognize the lack of emotion better than others. Spouses will be the experts. We are the ones who saw the unashamed and intimate emotions from this person. Our interaction with them then is emotionally draining for us and that is because we try to compensate for what they lack. The emotions we shared had energy and gave our marriages life. Now the energy comes from only one spouse. What a spouse experiences goes past loneliness into agonizing despair. We are bounded by our vows and love. We get little to none emotional response in return. We know they cant help it, they have a brain injury and so we accept it. We accept loving and not being loved in return. I am not sharing this for pity, this is for awareness. Unless we tell the world, the world will not know nor understand the road we walk upon. Please share
