Full Moon on Friday, June 13th, 2014 A Rare Day For Omens and Magic By Dikki-Jo Mullen Each year there is at least one Friday The 13th. Usually there are two, but occasionally there will be three of these mystical and controversial days. At first glance triskadekophiles (those who love the number thirteen) must just heave a sigh and decide to the best of what they have been given by the cosmos this year. 2014 brings us only one, Friday June 13. However, as often happens when the number thirteen appears, there is another serendipitous factor coming in to play. There is a Full Moon at 12:11 AM EDT, so it should be one humdinger of a Friday the 13th! It is extremely rare for the Full Moon, which always opens the veil to subtle energies and heightens the pace of life over all, to coincide with a Friday the 13th. Expect the unexpected and be alert to nuances. The 360 separate degrees of the zodiac are a great way to delve into the nuances, the more subtle messages within an astrology chart. Friday the 13th of June finds the Sun at 22 degrees of Gemini 05 and the Moon at 22 Sagittarius 05. Usually astrologers will examine the Sabian Symbols associated with each degree, but as is often the case when 13 and Fridays are involved, I had a disconcerting experience regarding this. As I reached for my Sabian Symbol book a tiny yellow volume Id completely forgotten about fell to the floor. Had it been pushed by a wayward faery? Maybe, because its a rare copy of Degrees of the Zodiac Symbolized by Charubel, a 19th Century astrologer, seer and clairvoyant. Charubel used completely different symbols to examine each degree. These came from ancient and paranormal sources. How perfect for a Friday the 13th on a Full Moon. Charubels symbol for the Moon reads A human heart encircled by a band of iron and pierced by a dagger with a jeweled hilt. This shows intense turning points regarding love and what touches the heart. Care of the heart, both in terms of revealing affections and in selecting healthy foods and drinks can be advised. Also values, what true wealth really means, can come into play. Issues of trust and betrayal might be afoot. Charubels symbol for the Sun is An old oak without leaf or bark and splintered by the storms through which it has passed stands alone in a desolate moorland.. Poor decisions and lapses of good judgment or perhaps external circumstances can lead to desertion and challenges. Dont let lifes challenges blight the dreams of youth, peace comes from within. Make ones own happiness regardless of others is the message here. For Pagans this Full Moon with Sun in Gemini and The Moon is called the Dyad Moon. Its message is to remember that there are at least two sides to every story. Be fair and balanced, consider the totality. Also do think things through before choosing. Within all good is evil and all evil good. Among the Native Americans this Full Moon has been called the Moon of the Corn. Always the growth of corn, the first cultivated crop, marked a time when culture took a leap forward. Corn fields were the heart of early villages. This grain is symbolic of intelligence and versatility. Corn has long been used in many nutritious dishes. The dried kernels can also be turned into jewelry and used in blessing rituals. In the Celtic Calendar This Full Moon coincides with The Month of Duir, the Oak Tree. ( Duir spans June 10 - July 7). The Celtic Calendar is based on an ancient tree and plant Zodiac. It might have a link with Stonehenge and the other great Stone Circles. Duir, the sign of the Oak Tree, honors strength and endurance. The Druidic beliefs were based on a cult honoring the sacred oak tree. A transmigration of growth, through the challenges and blockages of early life to emerge proclaiming liberty is the theme here. Germination on the astral plain for the purpose of finding a portal to higher dimensions Oak is more long lived and stands taller than most all other trees. Doors and furniture made of oak have been known to last a thousand years. The golden wheel, white horse, planet Jupiter and Dagda, the good god of Old Irish mythology reign link to this Celtic sign. A chief of the fey ones, Dagda was an early agricultural deity. He divided the hills and the mountains among the Tuatha da Danann. With his inexhaustible cauldrons of stew and fruit trees, he is a benevolent provider. This time of year is alive with the magic of life and growth. Oak is the tree which bears acorns. Once a main food source for wandering tribes, the acorns health and longevity benefits are studied by those interested in nutrition today. Freya, the Norse Love Goddess, wears her hair in the shape of an acorn, honoring this sacred tree. In mystical circles the acorn brings us the highest and most sacred kind of fertility creativity of the mind! Give birth to your own creative potential by honoring the blessed acorn talisman. Paraskavediatriaphobiac (A really neat word describing one who fears Friday the 13th.) should take it easy on June 13, 2014. Coupled with the Full Moon, a time when lunacy abounds, it might be too overwhelming for them. Many Americans may have a dread of Friday the 13th that is so severe that it affects work and business. Millions of dollars in lost wages and revenue occur every time the day rolls around. In England surveys show significantly more traffic problems on Friday the 13ths. Accepting a new job, walking under a ladder, watching a black cat cross the path these can be omens of either delight or terror. An overall terror of the number 13 in itself is called triskaidekaphobia. On the other hand, those who delight in the number 13 are called triskadekophiles. In earlier times village bakers, afraid of being accused of short changing a powerful customer on the purchase of a dozen rolls, would wisely add one extra to the parcel, for good will and safe keeping. 13 became a bakers dozen and has since long been synonymous with a lucky and protective thirteenth item.
