Full time Appalachian Basin Geoscientist with Battelle - position based in Columbus As a Geoscientist, the selected individual will provide geologic analysis within a diverse team of geologists, petrophysicists and geophysicists. Work will be with our oil and gas exploration and production and carbon utilization and storage programs. Examples of responsibilities based on current or anticipated projects include: * Integration of regional and local-scale geologic and geophysical data, including advanced wireline data, seismic surveys and core data, to support assessment of oil and gas production or injection and storage of fluids in subsurface * Regional mapping of the subsurface, focusing on the sub-Knox interval * Coordinate and lead geologic data collection * Assist in performing reservoir characterization studies and testing activities for oil and gas exploration and production and CO2 storage application * Contribute in the development of static earth models using commercial software for use in dynamic reservoir simulations * Provide support in the selection and execution of monitoring, verification, and accounting techniques, including surface and subsurface instrumentation suites and data analysis techniques * Support preparation of proposals to provide geologic characterization services oil and gas exploration and production services and for carbon dioxide storage opportunities * Interact with both internal and external clients to convey results or present findings through briefings THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION: * Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geologic Science, Earth Science, Geophysics, or closely related discipline * 5-8 years experience in Appalachian Basin geology * Experience in the sub-Knox interval * Regional approach to geologic characterization and good mapping skills * Knowledge of regional unconventional plays such as the Marcellus and Utica shales * Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to represent Battelle or its clients at conferences or public forums THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION: * Master’s Degree in Geology, Geologic Science, Earth Science, Geophysics, or a closely related discipline * Hands-on experience with geologic analysis and integration software suites, such as PETREL, PETRA, Kingdom, Geographix or ArcGIS * Experience in brine injection fields * Experience in the Michigan Basin and/or the Illinois Basin * Awareness of carbon sequestration To apply go to https://career8.successfactors/career?company=battelle&career_job_req_id=12680&career_ns=job_listing&jobPipeline=States_Compliance
