Full update on Aidans scare yesterday, from mommy Cathy: Apologies for not posting last night, but I was emotionally exhausted and was in bed at 8pm cuddling my little boy. Usually when Aidan goes for his check up it all goes smoothly - he has his blood taken, has an x-ray (which has always been perfectly clear), then we see Dr Beukes, the paediatrician, who examines Aidan and gives us the results of the blood test and x-ray. And we go home happy. Nothing went right yesterday morning. Firstly, they couldnt find a vein and ended up going in 3 times. Aidan was so brave, he just kept saying Oh boy and told his veins to be good Then the x-ray was taken 4 times because he either moved or didnt breathe in at the right time. After waiting a few minutes we were told that the radiographer had to take another x-ray as his shirt buttons showed up in the x-ray! So he had yet another x-ray. We were just walking into Dr Bs room when we were called back downstairs to have another x-ray taken. The radiologist called me in and told me that he had seen a spot on one of the lungs and needed to take another one because of Aidans history. This time there were 3 radiographers in the room taking the x-ray - and I was really scared. The radiologist told me that he could still see shadows on the lung, but didnt think it was anything to worry about. I tearfully told him that Rhabdomyosarcoma can tend to go to the lungs and that the last time a radiologist told me there was nothing to worry about it turned out to be cancer, and that the ultrasound hadnt picked up the tumour. So he decided to do a CT scan - and that came out clear. We had to wait for Dr B to see the report and give us the all clear. I am so very grateful to each and every one that sent me messages and posted on Facebook - and especially for all the prayers! I strongly believe in the power of prayer, and I felt very much at peace yesterday knowing this. News traveled fast and I knew that there were hundreds of people praying for my little boy THANK YOU to everyone who held Aidan and his Family in your hearts and prayers. Please keep them right there, it makes a huge difference.
