Fun day at work today!! Two artists, one Dutch one Palestinian, are working with the Institute for Contemporary Art on a project about exiles, revolution, and Victor Serge. So they asked Penns Rare Book dept. if they had some 20th century radical left items and perhaps with striking imagery and dealing with exile radicalism. Penn doesnt have too much, but Penn has a library staff member who has quite a bit!! So today I have selected a few dozen (few dozen dozen) pamphlets, posters, handbills, and newspapers from 20th century radical left movements, especially left-led national independence movements and their exile organizations; Palestine, Iran, Ireland, Eritrea, etc. Needless to say Im well rested, fully caffeinated and ready to do a major presentation on my favorite topic.
