Fun fact of the day : There is no consensus on the boundary - TopicsExpress

Fun fact of the day : There is no consensus on the boundary between airspace and outer space. If you start from a point on Earth and rise steadily to the sky, you will eventually leave the airspace of the country you started from and enter outer space, that belongs to nobody. But nobody knows exactly when. Borders are not "imaginary lines" on the ground, the are imaginary surfaces that intersect the ground on a line. The surface extends inside the earth and above it, then at an undecided altitude, it becomes parallel to the ground. In fact, borders between countries are only a fraction of the border space. Most of it is between countries and outer space. That is unless borders extend downwards to the core of the Earth, which they very well might, given the arrogance of state-people. Just a little illustration of the nonsense of borders, countries, visas and customs. And a reminder to map makers that the real world is 3D.
