Fun info sent out from the race organizer for my race tomorrow! I had to share! Im so stinking excited. I have no expectations for time. Just to finish before cutoff, not fall off the bridges, not get injured, not get eaten by a bear, and HAVE FUN! Read below what was sent! Awards 21M & 43M: There is no give-away shirt at Packet pickup this year. We upgraded from a shirt to an embroidered jacket. The jacket is a finishers award. You finish under the cutoff you get the jacket, do not finish under the cutoff and as Willy Wonka says “YOU GET NOTHING…….NOTHING…….NOTHING”. Awards 100K: Finishers will receive the traditional Neusiok 100k finishers medal and a finishers jacket. Weather & Trail Conditions: It’s going to be warm & raining. The forecast calls for it to be in the high 40’s Saturday morning and rising all day & through the night to high 60’s. On this trail that’s going to feel hot & muggy. The trail basically winds through a swamp and it is already VERY WET with plenty of standing water. No one will travel this trail without getting wet & muddy, have fun it will remind you of being a kid again. You’re going to be wet essentially all day. A change of shoes or socks will basically give you dry feet for 10-15 min, likely not worth the time to change them. Bridges & Safety: There are a lot of wooden bridges on this trail, some are very long, more than quarter mile. They all have slime on them and will be slicker than snot on a door knob. I promise you someone will fall, don’t let it be you. SLOW DOWN and be smart, the bridges reward patience, the swamp rewards stupidity. If you fall from a bridge the very best outcome will be for you to have to wade out of mud that will be waist deep at the very least. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. We cannot send motorized vehicles onto the trail to get you. If you get hurt you need to get out to an access road. If would be best to have a cell phone on you in a water proof bag in case of emergency.
