Funeral services for Mary Sabel, 88, of Monmouth IL will be at 10 AM Tuesday October 22, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth IL. Service will be presided over by Fr. Timothy Hepner being assisted by Mary’s son Fr. David Sabel. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Visitations will be 4-7 PM Monday October 21, 2013 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., 1500 Sixth Street, East Moline, IL 61244 and 1 hour prior to funeral services at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 210 W. Broadway, Monmouth IL 61462. Memorials can be made to OSF Hospice. Mary Sabel died October 18, 2013 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth IL. Mary was born December 24, 1924 in DePere, Wis., the daughter of Simon and Mathilda Hoffmann. She married Ervin A. Sabel (deceased) May 18, 1946 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wis. Mary was a loving wife and mother of 10 children. She lived the majority of her life in Rock Island IL and Watertown NY where she worked at the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital as a Ward Secretary. After retirement, Mary and Erv, moved to North Port Florida where they lived until Ervin’s death. Mary enjoyed her children and grandchildren, home cooking, volunteering with the church, playing cards/dominoes, traveling and socializing with friends. Mary also enjoyed the love and comfort of animals, especially her cat Izzy. Mary had a very strong Roman Catholic Faith with a great devotion to our Blessed Mother and her Holy Rosary Mary is survived by her sisters Betty Bott, Indianapolis IN and Joanne Tamse, Springhill FL and her children Thomas(Jana) Sabel, East Moline IL, Kathleen (Bruce) Harding, Springfield OH, Alice(Timothy) Denison, Monmouth IL, Fr. David Sabel, Pontiac, IL, Paul(Kathy) Sabel, Watertown NY, Mary(Eric) McInnis, Springfield OH, Barbara(William) Ferguson, Watertown NY, Diana(Steve) Branche, New Paltz NY, and Martin(Kelly) Sabel, US Navy Various Duty Stations, Currently Guam; 20 grandchildren and many more great grandchildren . She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Steven, brother, Leroy and sister, Dorothy.
