Funny how life works out & comes around full circle sometimes. Went to my 1st TBC show in 1995 in New Haven, CT - I was 16 & my taste in music was always very different from my friends (thankful for my parents raising me on a healthy diet of Motown, oldies, & classic rock & appreciation for live music & going to concerts). Still have the Rolling Stone covers & old Amorica/Gone poster (the one w/ Chris holding the gun pointed at the rest of the band on a hillside) that hung on my bedroom & dormroom walls. My husband Joe & I like a lot of the same music, but over the many years we knew each other (since 1997) &the countless hrs he heard me play the albums, he never got in to TBC. Flash forward to 2005, band reunites, I see theyre playing Hampton Beach NH. I convince Joe he should come w/ me. Thats all it took to convert him - one show & a spot 2nd row right in front of MFF. Dont need to explain to all of you how being there, in that spot, at that moment in time, was literally life-changing. We didnt have tix for the next night & I still had to convince Joe that if we went, it wasnt going to be the same show (isnt it funny when people say that?...youve seen them how many times? Why? Isnt it just the same songs?). I literally threw things at him (wadded up pieces of paper & a little airplane that I wrote Black Crowes - TONIGHT! on the wings) until he gave in. I got tix from someone on the old amorica board, headed back up to hampton, & enjoyed the second of what would be many, many TBC shows together. Many years & miles later, being able to be part of last nights MFF show & fun in Boston, along w/ a few of the truly fantastic people we have met on the road...it was, and always has been, more than just music, more than just a concert, more than just a night out for me / us. Sorry such a long read, but everyone has their story & I felt like sharing mine. Here are some pics from yesterday. Oh, and on our way out to boston yesterday, we stopped at a Joe Perry book signing. (Big old school aerosmith fan, many concerts over the yrs, most memorably when I won tix from WBLM in NH, went w/ my dad to the show at the ballpark at Old Orchard Beach ME, early 1990s, it had been raining for days & the folding chairs just sunk into the mud, I was maybe 14 yrs old, it was a crazy crowd & dad still talks about some nervous moments...but thats another story for another day). Had a nice chat with Mr Perry, took some pics, and continued on our way to Boston. Not a bad day at all.
