Funny of the day # 1 gazillion: (This actually happened about two weeks ago, yet I am just now getting time to post it!) Avery has an imagination that is out-of-this-world-unbelievable. However, that wonderful imagination & colorful personality also often get him into gobs & gobs of trouble. One week, he might want to be an army sniper; the next, he might want to be a pharmacist or a ninja. You can guarantee that whatever he is pretending to be at the moment that he is going to play the part to the max… On this particular week, he was playing the role of a film producer. He got out the movie camera & his Ipad & began taping everything that went on. It was driving everyone insane. On the Friday night of Aug. 1, we headed to a wedding for some friends/ neighbors in Cherokee Village at the CV Country Club. When we arrived, Avery insisted that he was going to film this wedding. He began telling us that we needed to make sure that there is no one in front of him to block his view, fully demanding that the bride & groom tell the people in front of us that they needed to move so that he could film properly. We explained how preposterous that his idea was & instead spent the duration of the wedding playing musical chairs so that he could get “the best view for filming.” He taped what he could but seemed to be especially enthralled with the bride & groom’s first dance…. When we got back to our house in the Village, Avery had formed the idea that he was going to STAR in a “film,” along with myself. According to his plan, Matthew would be the one who filmed, while Avery asked me to dance. I thought to myself, ”Awww, he saw the bride & groom dancing & is now wanting to learn to slow dance.” Yeah, that’s not exactly how the story went down…. He put me into position about 4 ft from himself & told me that he was going to approach me & ask me to dance once the “filming” begins. Easy enough…Matt began taping while I stood there waiting for him to ask me to dance. Matt started the music, & all of a sudden, Avery began to dance like he was turnin’ out the club. Oh, I have seen this type of dancing before, but not from any Jackson genes. Heredity was once again playing a very ugly trick on me as it became perfectly clear that my family’s genes were peeking through once again. Mind you, at this point, I was just standing there & watching the ridiculous spectacle before me…. Suddenly, Avery asked, ”Well, ain’t you gonna dance?” In a whirlwind second, the next thing I knew, he had started to strip off his shorts while he was dancing…. Me (absolutely irate): Have you lost your ever-lovin’ mind? You know better than that mess!! What has gotten into you? You asked me to be in your “film,” which I agreed to do, then you start acting like this??? Avery: Yeah, well, my FILM is gonna be R-RATED!!! Aaannnnnddd CUT….His film career officially ended at that very moment. However, the memories & visions are forever burned into my mind’s eye.
