Furness Coastguard were tasked at 0120 to attend to reports of a casualty in the water by Ferry Pitchings. Once on scene the casualty had been recovered and was receiving medical care. It was not confirmed if they were the sole person in the water so an extensive search of Walney Channel was conducted. Cumbria Police, Cumbria Fire and Rescue, Barrow RNLI ILB and Duddon Inshore Rescue ILB all carried out a uniform search of the channel. A Police Helicopter carried out a search from the air whilst a Coastguard Helicopter was on route and at 0240 it was confirmed there was only 1 person in the water and all rescue services were stood down. A great team effort by all involved with a good result.
