Further Burglaries in the Poplar House area of Bingley Further to the alert sent out on 2nd June 2013 relating to burglaries that had taken place in the Poplar House area of Bingley, four further offences of burglary took place between Wednesday 5th June and Thursday 6th June 2013 on Unity Street South, and Mitchell Terrace. Three of these offences were Attempt Burglaries as no access was gained to the houses. Please be aware that ALL the burglaries which have happened in the Bingley area since the beginning of the month involve the suspect/s attacking euro profile door locks. The properties that had snap safe / break secure locks and sash jammers fitted, found that the suspects were unable to gain entry to their properties. Euro Profile Locks Unless you have recently changed your Europrofile Locking Barrels to the more secure ones such as, Break Secure and Snap Safe it is likely that those fitted at your home are at risk. It is essential that you now consider taking steps to replace your existing Europrofiles locks with Break Secure and Snap Safe, which can be purchased on the Internet or through local locksmiths. This is particularly important on your main exit/entrance door as this cannot be further secured by Sash (Security) Jammers when you are out of the house. Further information can be found at securedbydesign or casac.org.uk Sash Jammers Sash (Security) Jammers should be fitted on the inside of the UPVC Door (Top and Bottom) and these should be used at all times. Even if the Europrofile lock is snapped, these Jammers will keep the door secure. The Sash (Security) Jammer is fitted to the door frame and when turned across the actual door, prevents the door from opening. (If the door opens outwards then the Sash Jammer is fitted to the door and when turned it holds onto the door frame, thus preventing the door from opening.)
