Further comment on holy places : My comment was to a brother who claimed that Christian meeting places must be totally dedicated or sanctified for that purpose and no other, bcos they are holy places. So, to him, even a plain meeting hall, if it used for meetings, must not be used for anything else or anything secular bcos Gods presence dwells there. I begged to differ, that is an OT understanding of the OT Temple. For the first 300 years of the church Christians met in homes. There was no such concept of an exclusively holy meeting place for the first 300 years, and the false teaching of holy places was introduced by Catholicism only in the 3rd century. Now in the NT the Temple is our own bodies. This is the location of God now. Our body is the holiest place on earth now. Brother, i checked out the book The grace outpouring and read the synopsis. It says that there are certain thin places on earth where people can have easier access to God. Modern false prophets talk about portals to heaven. Im sorry, that is the occult. If a person knew and believed that Jesus Christ now lives in them, then how could they believe there are physical places where it is easier to contact God? What kind of gospel is that, where access to God depends on where you are? Does the Blood of Christ lose its power in certain places? Is the Holy Spirit weaker in certain places? It would be very much accepted in Catholicism, with holy shrines etc. which is all superstition and the demonic realm. I realize there have been times of true revival (like in the Hebrides in the 50s) where the presence of God rested in a certain place for a time and all in that locality came under conviction of sin. But that was for a purpose, to bring them to true conversion. Those places are now often worse than they were before, as in Wales. Once a person really knows Jesus then they will not think they have to come back to that same place where they met Him in order to get closer to Him, for now He indwells them. ~ ianvincent.wordpress/
