Just click on this Facebook post, like our Facebook page and leave a comment in the message field. Winners announced this Friday. Greetings! Happy Wednesday everyone. I hope you all had a meaningful fast yesterday and are ready to get your meat cravings satisfied as we are approach the 9 Days, where dairy and fish will undoubtedly dominate your meals. But keep an eye out for our Annual 9 Days newsletter with dozens of special menus from many of the meat restaurants. Meanwhile, Great Kosher Restaurants has been very busy the last 2 weeks and by the looks of this email with even more restaurant openings, we will continue to stay busy as we will have to try all these great restaurants (in fact, we are in Cleveland today and Detroit tomorrow). But since our last newsletter, we have dined at two of Brooklyns finest restaurants, T Fusion and Chagall Bistro (see photos below) and then we went south to Florida where the restaurant scene has exploded with fantastic new restaurants the last couple of years. Not taking anything away from New Jersey or California, but I think aside from New York, Florida is the state with the nicest kosher restaurants. See below for all the restaurant excursions we went on when we were there. As always, follow us on Facebook as we go restaurant hopping from state to state. And wouldnt you know it but as we were flying back to NY last Friday, we got the big news that Butterfish, located in the Sony Building, is now turning kosher. This is a fascinating move from owner Joey Allaham since many of you know the revolving door Solo went through these last few years, first as an Asian Steakhouse to an Italian Dairy Restaurant and then finally to Chinese until they closed abruptly. Lets hope Butterfish is successful and stays around for many years. And actually the concept seems very interesting as there really is no other specialized kosher fish restaurant in Manhattan or in its vicinity (see photo and menus below). But besides that big news, below we have an exclusive picture of the new Mikes Bistro and a host of other restaurant openings, updates and current specials, so please scroll down. However, let me just take this moment to say that yesterday marked the 3 weeks, a time of mourning as we get closer to Tisha BAv and with everything that is going in Israel, let us all pray that the situation in Israel and frankly the state of Jews all over the world gets better and that we can all live in peace and harmony. Have a great rest of the week. Originally, Butterfish opened to the public as a non-kosher, traditional and authentic Japanese omakase restaurant in April 2014. However it was just tak en over by Prime Hospitality Group and supervised under the Orthodox Union (owner Joey Allaham loved the concept and chef so much he agreed to turn it Kosher!). So get ready for unprecedented sophistication as Butterfish presents a distinctive kosher restaurant serving a groundbreaking menu of kosher fish, yuzu miso cod and Osaka-style sushi. Butterfish will specialize in authentic new age Japanese sushi, featuring simple ingredients of exceptional quality, with fish so fresh it will literally melt in your mouth like butter. With superior fish brought in daily from Japan and local markets, Butterfish will feature an extensive selection of fish and a full line of sushi techniques never before seen in any kosher eatery, as well as full line of Japanese beer, whiskey and sake. Click the links for an exclusive look at their food and drinks menu. The Prime Hospitality Group is also honored to welcome the renowned Chef Hitoshi Saito, who studied sushi preparation in Osaka. His unique technique of combining cold fish with his signature warm rice, made fresh in small batches every half hour, yields unparalleled results, winning him accolades from food critics worldwide. Enjoy reasonably priced genuine Japanese soups, salads, sushi, sashimi and chirashi and innovative delicacies including Kobe beef sushi, beef shabu shabu and chicken tempura, prepared and presented to The Prime Hospitality Groups exacting standards. Two large private dining rooms make Butterfish well suited for business meetings or other events and a third gives diners an exclusive opportunity to enjoy a unique chefs table, one on one experience with Chef Hitoshi, with online ordering and catering also available. Hitoshis Table- Enjoy the ultimate Butterfish experience at Jins Table, where guests will enjoy a sublime selection of sushi, created exclusively for the chefs table. Reservations for this one of a kind dining experience, available to only ten diners at each of two nightly seatings, must be made 48 hours in advance - $95 per person 550 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10022 (212) 729-1819 PHOTO EXCLUSIVE: First picture from the new Mikes Bistro coming this Fall on the East Side Izzys BBQ Addiction Owner Signs Lease for New Restaurant in Crown Heights Many know Sruli Eidelman as the man behind Izzys BBQ Addiction and the cooking in his kitchen but he is branching out and keeping his talents in Crown Heights as he projects 3-4 months for his new bbq place to open. Carlos & Gabbys Has Opened in Lakewood After months of anticipation, Carlos & Gabbys has opened its 5th location and the first one outside of New York. They are located at 95 Kennedy Blvd. Philadelphias Citron & Rose Owner Opens New Bakery, The Dairy Coming Soon Six Points Restaurant Group presents its newest business to the family, Six Points Bakery at 289 Montgomery Avenue in Bala Cywnyd (Phone Number - 610-931-8558). Owner David Magerman tells the Jewish Exponent: The bakery is a retail outlet for selling the baked goods that we make at our commissary in King of Prussia for our catering operations. We planned on using The Dairy - which should be opening in the fall - to sell them. We decided to open up the bakery in the meantime. ;The paper goes on to say that judging from a recent taste test, Six Points is poised to do for perceptions about kosher bakeries what its sibling did for kosher restaurants. Both a lemon-poppy and a carrot-raisin muffin were exemplars of the genre. Among the cookie offerings at Six Points is a chocolate-cherry bomb that doesnt stint on either cocoa or stone fruit impact. Bagels are also a strong suit of the bakery and offers an assortment of other types of pastries during its lengthy hours of operation: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to sundown on Fridays. The long-term future of the bakery is up in the air, according to Magerman, since his plan all along was to have the commissarys offerings sold in The Dairy, which he says will have a more elaborate se tup than the cozy confines of the bakery. However, he qualified, if it turns out that there is a real demand for a standalone bakery, we will keep it open. The Dairy, which was supposed to open last fall, has been held up for a variety of construction and permit reasons.
