‘GAMBIAN STATE MADE THE BIGGEST CATCH IN THE CASE OF EX JUSTICE MINISTER LAMIN JOBARTEH AND EX SG PA HARRY JAMMEH,’ HIGHLY PLACED SOURCE REVEALED ‘GAMBIAN STATE MADE THE BIGGEST CATCH IN THE CASE OF EX JUSTICE MINISTER LAMIN JOBARTEH AND EX SG PA HARRY JAMMEH,’ HIGHLY PLACED SOURCE REVEALED EXHIBIT TAMPERING, BRIBERY, CORRUPTION WEB, AND ABUSE OF OFFICE EMERGED FROM THE ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS Gambians and friends of the Gambia will be amazed by the outcome of the ongoing investigations into the case of the disgraced former Justice Minister Lamin Jobarteh, and his lieutenant EX Solicitor General Pa Harry Jammeh, a highly placed source close the State House told the Freedom Newspaper on Friday. “This is one of the biggest catch ever recorded in the history of the Jammeh administration. This is a rare case, which will no doubt trump up President Jammeh’s image in his efforts to combat official corruption. The preliminary findings are disturbing so to speak. I can honestly tell you that there is no malice in this case. A panel of seasoned and experienced officers have been recruited to oversee the investigations,” said our source. “Lamin Jobarteh and Pa Harry Jammeh have betrayed the trust and confidence reposed on them by the President Yahya Jammeh. The investigations are ongoing. So far, the investigators have uncovered a massive corruption web at the Ministry of Justice and the judiciary. There is documented evidence of exhibits being tampered with, bribery, corruption, interference with the administration of justice, accused persons being falsely jailed, and in some occasions the President’s name being allegedly used for economic and political gains. The trial of Lamin Jobarteh, Pa Harry Jammeh and co is going to attract global attention. Many folks currently serving the government are going to lose their jobs as a result of this case. Many heads are going to roll in coming weeks and months. The investigations have tied them to the alleged malpractices and abuse of office,” our source added. The panel overseeing the case of Lamin Jobarteh and Pa Harry Jammeh is consists of NIA agents, police officers, and army personnel. The panel is expected to finish its investigations pretty soon, a source familiar with the case told this paper. “The people of Bansang have been celebrating the firing of Jobarteh. Jobarteh took their lands and was acting extra judicially while in office. I think President Jammeh would be warmly welcome in Bansang during his “Dialogue with the people tour” this time around because he demonstrated good leadership by disassociating himself from Jobarteh’s mess. Jobarteh should not blame anyone but himself. The love for material wealth and position have landed him in such a predicament. There was this guy that they deported from the Gambia without due process. I don’t want to go into details until the investigations are completed. The Ben Jammeh issue also featured prominently on the investigations,” our source hinted. Meanwhile, Lawyer Pa Badou Conteh, a member of the Judicial Service Commission, who was arrested last week has been granted bail, our source said. Mr. Conteh’s case is still pending. He has not been formally charged by the state. The investigations into his case are ongoing, our source added.
