GEJ ADMINISTRATION AND WAIVERS..... CHARACTERISTICALLY, we have - TopicsExpress

GEJ ADMINISTRATION AND WAIVERS..... CHARACTERISTICALLY, we have a response from our government in this format: 1. A Lengthy REBUKE for the press (depending on if a report is favorable or otherwise) 2. A body or individual who validates their claim that their program is working 3. A very GENERAL explanation about how it is working (NEVER substantiated by solid stats) 4. And finally, another LENGTHY rebuke for the press (again depending...) In all fairness to this regime, they have good intentions, as far as economic revitalization. BUT good intentions have never amounted to efficient implementation and results... ultimate being that the people actually FEEL the effects of these programs. You will find that our government never makes any claims that are easily verifiable by the ordinary people on the street...for example cement...has the price of cement dropped substantially OR AT ALL for Nigerians since the new program began? Then theres the additional claim about increase in cement export, but no data to show, if any, or how much of the increase has been as a direct result of GEJ administrations new way of issuing waivers. It is clear what is happening here...our government (this and preceding administrations) have come to believe that Nigerians will, and should accept as SATISFACTORY, whatever flimsy explanation they offer us, they dont even try any more... It is only a fool that does not realize when the tide has changed. Nigerians inside and out of the country have real time communication and open forums to discuss, analyse, toss and weigh issues. The press in Nigeria is now no different from the press any where else in the world today, (some partisan...some unbiased). They report what they reasonably find to have veracity. And the government has an opportunity to debunk these reports, to the extent that they are counterfactual. IF you claim the press has gotten it wrong, and your explanation consists only of two long paragraphs of rebuke and self praise, and one of unconvincing and unsubstantiated claims (other than a couple of quotes from the Manufacturers Association) of how well your policies are working, you have yourself to blame if Nigerians believe the press, over you. Once again let me say, the time is NOW for THE GOODWILL EBELE JONATHAN administration to understand one thing; the era for business as usual has passed. That low bar we set for leaders in the past has been raised...BECAUSE WE OVERWHELMINGLY GAVE YOU OUR MANDATE. TRY HARDER, BOW OUT, OR YOU KNOW THE STORY...2015.
