GEMS - WHAT THEY DO AND WHY YOU SHOULD USE THEM... Crafting certain items requires LUCK. GEMS are used to increase your chance of success. Each type of GEM does something different... RED GEM: Adds 50% to your chance to craft a superior item. BLUE GEM: Adds 2 luck to your crafting attempt for any single attempt. BLACK GEMS applied to a crafting attempt accrue LUCK after each failed attempt (unlike BLUE GEMS which only apply to a single attempt). There are 3 types of BLACK GEMS: COMMON BLACK GEM: Adds 1 LUCK when applied to any crafting attempt. UNCOMMON BLACK GEM: Adds 2 LUCK when applied to a crafting attempt. PEERLESS BLACK GEM: Adds 5 LUCK when applied to a crafting attempt. PEERLESS BLACK GEMS also persist through reincarnation. If you do not apply any GEMS to a crafting attempt, you will add 1 LUCK for each failed attempt. Once successful, your LUCK will reset to 0. By adding BLACK GEMS, you can dramatically increase your chances of success and decrease the potential number of crafting attempts. For instance, if you apply a COMMON BLACK GEM (+1 LUCK) to an initial crafting attempt and it fails, on your next attempt you will have +2 (1 for the GEM and 1 for the Fail). ***NOTE: SPARKLING JEWELS are not GEMS and are not used to modify LUCK.
