GENE AUTRY, star of stage, screen, radio, televisions, and records, also a successful businessman and Don McCullochs former employer, was born today in 1907 in Tioga Springs, Texas. His Golden West Broadcasters owned radio stations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and Detroit, and TV stations in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Oklahoma City. He also owned the California Angels and the Gene Autry Hotel in Palm Springs. He has five stars on Hollywoods Walk of Fame, earned four Gold Records (one for a six-million-seller), and wrote some 200 songs, including Here Comes Santa Claus and his theme song, Back in the Saddle Again. bit.ly/106dlLr
