GENERAL INFORMATION - XUZHOU MEDICAL UNIVERSITY: Xuzhou Medical University is a renowned medical University of China imparting education in Chinese language to Chinese students and students from all over the world. A well chalked out curriculum already exists. Many students from other countries especially from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and India are interested to get medical education in China but because of language problem and the problem of differences in the curricula, many of them do not feel comfortable after coming back to their parent countries. Moreover, since they have to appear in the entrance tests in their respective countries, it is necessary that a standard curriculum is designed to meet the needs of students coming from other countries specially Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and India. Excellent teaching research and clinical facilities exist in Xuzhou Medical University, which the students could avail. In order to get an opening in the renowned Xuzhou Medical University, it was thought worthwhile to start a new course in English medium. The authorities of the University have been very kind to grant permission to start the course and have assured to provide every facility required. The facilities of classrooms, laboratories, museums, hostels already exist which the authorities have assured to extend. Some senior and experienced teachers competent to teach in English are also willing to extend their active help and cooperation. More senior and experienced as well as junior teachers would be sent from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and India. Xuzhou Medical University MBBS curriculum is designed for students coming from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, India and other countries who want to study in the renowned Xuzhou Medical University. The students shall have to get basic knowledge of Chinese language and to pass the HSK examination, which is the basic examination compulsory for students from outside China. The curriculum is prepared keeping in view the needs of the students and the requirements of the country they would come from so that they are competent to practice or go in for post-graduation in their country of origin. It is envisaged that the students shall go back to their respective country after the completion of the course for their compulsory rotating internship, however, facilities for completing internship in Xuzhou Medical University shall also be available. Xuzhou Medical University MBBS curriculum aims at providing the student knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage patients, develop attitudes ingrained in the profession, develop proficiency and competence to determine and resolve medical and health problems and develop interest in continued medical education. The total duration of the course is four and half years consisting of nine semesters. After the completion of nine semesters, the student shall undergo one year of compulsory rotating internship either in Xuzhou Medical University or in the country of origin. The entire course of nine semesters is divided in two parts: (1) first four semesters are devoted to the integrated teaching of basic medical subjects. In the first part, the subjects taught would be-Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Community Medicine. (2) next five semesters are devoted to the clinical subjects. In the second part the subjects taught would be-Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Anaesthesiology, Skin and V.D., Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine and Toxicology.
