GETTING BETTER FASTER Getting better faster comes from smart - TopicsExpress

GETTING BETTER FASTER Getting better faster comes from smart and hard work, which comes from courage, motivation, and attention to details. Courage is the strength of will to do what is difficult, both physically and morally. No one is always maxed out with intrinsic motivation, so finding the positive energy that leads to industriousness (finding motivation) is a skill that should be practiced every day. Turn the mundane into the sacred. Everyone is going to run, throw, and hit, but not everyone is going to get better faster. Perhaps you find your edge from a vivid image of winning or achieving a long-term goal. Perhaps you find it from an appreciation for the opportunity to play. Perhaps something else, but recognize that a big part of your job is to find what works for you to maintain consistently high enthusiasm. With motivation, attention to details will follow. It is not good enough to simply do what you are told by coaches and hustle. To get better faster, you have to ask how and why. Make learning more important than outcomes, because learning persists for the rest of your career. Intelligence is simply being good at guessing, and that comes from asking questions, guessing at answers, and paying attention to the patterns of results you get. If you ask persistently, you will find the answers and if you do not, you will not. Ultimately, what drives your edge over the competition is your courage to expand your familiar zone, look for weaknesses, and take action to become the best of which you are capable (successful).
