GETTING TO KNOW THE CHUHUAC - PART EIGHT RAP-008 SIRRUS APC The Chuhuac have named this APC after their protective mother hens, a formidable icon in their culture. Even in modern Chuhuac society, mothers are generally absolved of any violence, up to and including murder, when it occurs in defense of young. The relationship between Chuhuac warriors and their APC and its single crew (often female) mirrors the family bonds of mother and offspring. APC crew are often referred to as mother, even when male, and take pride in delivering their clutch safely to their deployment zone. Warriors are often hyper-protective of their crew and crew seldom pay for meals or entertainment on leave. Nobody messes with a packs crew. The Sirrus delivers its troops to the battlefield using grav propulsion. The crew operates the vehicle in tandem with an on-board AI, a common fixture in nearly every Chuhuac combat vehicle. Each of the six troopers carried by the Sirrus enters the vehicle through a rear hatch and files into position behind each of the race gate hatches - three to a side. Each hatch had a plasma gun mounted above it operated by the trooper or the AI. When the time comes to deploy from the vehicle, the race gate hatches slam open and the Chuhuac sprint out, covered by the plasma guns. This deployment method keeps the Chuhuac from becoming a tangle of necks and tails when exiting the vehicle in combat. Humans, having difficulty with the Chuhuac language have named the rig the Trilobite, a name they consider derisive. Even still, this high-brow nomenclature is often abandoned on the battlefield where other terms like Lizard Limo and Pill Bug are more common.
