‘GHOST WORKERS’. The journeys to the band of ghosts are often recorded and narrated as mythological stories. The theme of ghosts as working class citizens in Nigeria has added another colour to such stories. Therefore, it may sound incredible, a story that ghosts, in whatever gender, wine and dine with workers and they are called ‘ghost workers. The disturbing effects of these ghosts are tremendous. They have their names on worker’s pay roll and get paid or how best can we explain the disturbing effects of ‘ghost workers’ that monthly confront all tiers of government with the problem of managing the soaring rise in wage bill? In spite of an in built security systems of administration. The machinery of some of us deliberately about ‘ghosts’ to torment not only the custodians of our money but also the dedicated workers who are after subjected to rigorous screening before they got paid. Will these ‘ghost workers’ ever forgive the living that supply their names for financial guild? How do these ‘ghost’s slip off the administrative nebs being some cases some ‘ghost workers’ do not show up or comply with administrative conditions for screening conviction. So those who employ ‘ghosts’ as another iron-hands in crime pacify them with ‘fat’ salaries for no one to bail us out as these “ghost workers’ should get? By their actions, there is an inevitable gulf between human actions and the menace ‘ghost’.
