GIVING THANKS, especially as an ARTIST, because ts NECESSARY for a life full of more things to be thankful for. I have been truly blessed with opportunities to do what I love. I am ever so grateful to be able to live a life where my creativity allows me to touch the lives of others, learn, teach and live a sustainable lifestyle. I have never adopted the struggling artist, philosophy and I can not ever allow such words like that come out of my mouth. Blessing highlights over a few months like: Withlove,Felicia- an interdisciplinary spoken word play that disseminates information on the cycle of abuse with my sistars -Paula, Doriette, Anna, Dani, Edem and De with guest spoken word poet and friend Michelle. Presenting at the Black Leadership Symposium at UNL to being able to honor Walter & Sherry Brooks at Worlds Aids day at UNO. (You betta check yoself.) Organizing The ROUX ,a youth spoken word open mic at The Wanda Ewing Gallery to conducting spoken word workshops at The Carver with hip hop renown photographer Janette Beckman. Verbal Gumbo is in the house with my beautiful co host Michelle,to performing at An Evening with the ahhhmazing Edem, her dope musicians and the bright word smith Lite Pole. The Love Down Below has made a it to a year in the making and has been off the chain featuring Dani Cleveland in October and Shauna Bulter in November, both rocking with Transition which included all those super duper musicians and poets who blessed the mic. I am honored to teach organizations how to keep their staff motivated to conducting healing workshops for necessary movements like the HALO project. Just about 5 days a week, I teach youth about different facets of the arts as a teaching artist and soon I will open a healing center with my sis Camille, finally publishing some thangs ....all the while by being a mommy intentionally leaving a legacy for my sun. I admit I have a dope source. The Most High gives me light and guidance,angels, great friends n family, opportunities and vision. My ancestors push me constantly to make change in myself and in this world that needs love n healing, while my life lessons assist me in growing into my highest good and are never taken for granted. Sooooooo, I say all this to say, always give thanks and never give uP on your dreams. Just wake uP and live them......the world is waiting on YOU!
