GLISPA Co-Chair Palaus President Tommy Remengesau Jr has been announced this week, along with the President of Indonesia as winners of the Global Policy Leadership category of UNEPs Champions of the Earth Prize. President Remengesau won for strengthening his countrys economic and environmental resilience by implementing national policies to protect biodiversity; and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former President of Indonesia, for becoming the first president from a major developing country to voluntarily pledge to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Congratulations also to oceanographer Sylvia Earle.
