GMA NEWS: JULY 4, 2013 PHL Congen in Hong Kong warns vs online impostors Filipinos in Hong Kong were cautioned on Wednesday against a new scam where the perpetrators allegedly join online forums and claim to represent the Philippine Consulate General there. In an advisory, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong warned against some persons or entities "misrepresenting" the consulate in online forums. "The Philippine Consulate General would like to inform the public that all legitimate statements and press releases can only be found on its official Facebook page (Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong) and web site," it said. The consulate said it recently learned that certain persons or entities were misrepresenting the consulate. However, it did not give further details about the online forums where the supposed misrepresentation was made. However, it said it will not assume liability "for any erroneous online statement made by these unauthorized persons/entities." Meanwhile, the Consulate General advised the public to report misrepresentation by contacting its Cultural Section at telephone numbers 2823-8536/2823-8559 or email cultural@philcongen-hk. - VVP, GMA News
