GMA NEWS: NOV. 4, 2013 LTFRB head office evacuated due to bomb threat (Updated 11:57 a.m.) Operations of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Quezon City were disrupted Monday morning after its personnel received a bomb threat. Several employees of the head office were evacuated and gathered outside the gate, radio dzBBs Glen Juego reported. Police found a grenade at the mens room of the third floor of the LTFRB head office but said it was not in danger of exploding. Fragmentation hand grenade (ang nakita pero) hindi siya sasabog, Superintendent Lemuel Obon of the Quezon City Police District Station 10 said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said the MK-2 grenade was wrapped in tape. When asked if transactions at the LTFRB can resume, he said, okay na, clear na tayo. However, in a separate report on GMA News TVs News TV Live on Monday, some employees were reluctant to return inside the building after the threat. For his part, LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez said they will resume operations after police have cleared the area. Ginez said they will review closed-circuit television footage to see who went in and out of the building. The LTFRB had been busy during last weeks observance of All Saints and All Souls Days. Its personnel kept watch against abusive taxi drivers who would overcharge passengers arriving from the provinces. Past bomb threats It was the latest bomb threat to hit government offices in Metro Manila. Last August 7, tension gripped the Court of Appeals in Manila due to a bomb threat, forcing employees and even justices out of the building. CA Justice Remedios Salazar-Fernando told reporters that one of their security guards received a call from an unidentified woman about 9 a.m. who said a bomb would go off at the CA Main Building. Authorities later declared the CA building safe after scouring six offices, he said. Only barely three hours later, another bomb threat caused tension at the nearby Department of Justice (DOJ) building, where personnel were also instructed to vacate the building. — with Amanda Fernandez/KG/RSJ, GMA News
